I have fished all my life, but I am new to light tackle striper fishing on the Chesapeake Bay. I became frustrated with my lack of success, and bought this book (and the follow on book) to increase my knowledge of light tackle techniques. If your goal is to become proficient chasing Striped Bass with light tackle gear, I highly recommend reading Shawn's books, and booking an instructional trip with an experienced light tackle guide. This book and a guided trip transformed the way I fish the Chesapeake, and opened my eyes to some of the most enjoyable fishing I have ever experienced. For those of you looking to transition your striper pursuit to lighter gear, this book is for you. Frankly, light tackle fishing for striped bass (aka Rockfish) is some of the best fishing I have ever done, and Shawn's books have helped me immensely. Yes, there are days when I come away without catching fish, but as Shawn points out, those are valuable opportunities to learn as well.

Good book for lite tackle fishing for Rock
Great read. This book will cover everything you need to know about light tackle fishing the bay. Caught my personal best just after reading. Kimbro doesn't give you a hot spot to fish. Instead he teaches you how to find the fish for long term success.
Since I live on the Chesapeake Bay this book I found great. Just makes the cabin fever that much worse and I can't wait to try out some of his techniques.
This is the best book I could find covering fishing with light tackle on the Chesapeake Bay, and has served as my guide for expanding my technique from spin casting in shallow waters to locating and reaching fish in 20 to 30 feet of water. That said, the reader must weed through all of the authors fish stories to get at the detailed information. I liked the fish stories and found them instructive and entertaining. Also the Authors on line blog is a useful supplement. I recommend this for anyone interested in pursuing light tackle fishing on the chesapeake.
I'm new to light tackle fishing! I went two Lt. Tackle trips with Capt. Walleye Pete in the summer 2014, and fell in love with Lt. Tackle Fishing. I always thought Bait fishing was the best fishing untilI went on a Lt. Tackle Fishing trip. I will being using technics and advice how to be stealth when fishing, and how to fish working birds. Plus the advice about fishing the CCNPP was super, because I heard you can get your boat in trouble if you never fish there before!

Excellent book can't wait to Read "The Right Stuff" Book I purchase! Hope one day I could fish with Shawn to get some in person hands on tips and guidance regarding Light Tackle Fishing!

Again, Thanks Shawn, God Bless, Be Safe!

Excellent read - Kimbro is a storyteller and a philosopher of fishing. He combines a detailed explanation of his techniques with an analysis of the underlying forces of nature at work to help you learn to think like a fish. This is a book I will read again, many times, for the entertainment and knowledge. I hope to find a hard copy some day.
Filled with valuable fishing information regarding the Chesapeake Bay and fishing in general. Highly recommended. I ended up finishing this in one day. Can’t wait to get out there and practice some of the techniques. Would have given 5 stars but much of the text for the book came straight out of his fishing blog, which I’ve read through a number of times already for free. I think he’s a very good writer also, which makes this book even more enjoyable. A couple diagrams or pictures of things like identifying rips, etc. would be helpful to someone like me who likes diagrams, but his descriptions of various techniques are generally easy to understand. He also waxes philosophical a fair bit about fishing and conservation, but not in an overwrought, unpleasant or preachy way. I actually agree with most of that.
